01 a calm oasis
Photography Milly Mead
Designed with a personal approach, this home embodies a calm oasis with a boutique feel, seamlessly blending indoor and alfresco living. As one of eight luxury Rose Bay townhouses, its four-story layout emphasises outdoor living, creating a harmonious connection between nature and architecture.
A timeless neutral base palette was carefully curated. Soft grey lime-washed walls, natural oak floors, and refined accents of marble and metals form the foundation. This is complemented by a layered selection of fabrics and textures, harmonizing to create depth and warmth.
Every detail, from large-scale architectural elements to the smallest decor accents, was thoughtfully considered. Design classics were paired with vintage and antique pieces, while personal artifacts brought character.
Given the site’s constraints, choosing the right furniture, fixtures, and equipment was key to balancing function and aesthetic harmony.
Sustainability was central to the design, with responsibly sourced timber, breathable lime-wash paints, and materials that develop a rich patina over time. Handcrafted furniture by local artisans sits alongside bespoke pieces made from eco-conscious materials. Natural linen, wool, and recycled textiles enhance the refined yet welcoming atmosphere.
With layered lighting, rich textures, and statement elements, the home captures contemporary sophistication with timeless charm. The result is effortlessly luxurious, inviting, and deeply personal—a sanctuary designed to evolve with its inhabitants.
